Not just brain teasers!

This book was compared to a brain teaser book I read recently, and I like exercising my mind, so I decided to try it out. This is definitely not your average book of brain teasers and puzzles...it's actually much more! The title calls them "thought experiments", and that's exactly what they are. The author presents a concept, and discusses many different ideas related to that concept, then gives the reader something to ponder on. Each chapter in this book is a self-contained thought experiment, so you can skip around in the book; the book doesn't have to be just read from beginning to end.
There are a lot of different ways you could use this book. You could just read one of the thought experiments and ponder on it for a while, and move on to the next. You could grab a journal or some paper and write down your opinions and ideas at the end of each chapter. Or you could even use them to start up some very interesting conversations. There are many possibilities, which, I think, is one of the great things about this book. You'll definitely stretch your imagination and think about things you probably had never even considered before.
The sample of this Kindle book contains the introduction and the first chapter of the book. If you're not sure if you want to buy it, definitely check out the sample. I think it is an easy way to figure out if this book is for you! I highly recommend this book, it'll definitely give you plenty to think about!

It’s clear and easily accessible. Some of the concepts were already familiar ...

This book is very well-written. It’s clear and easily accessible. Some of the concepts were already familiar to me, and some provided new ideas for contemplation.
It covers a wide range of material, ranging from the fantastic to simple extrapolations of everyday reality--which nevertheless have some surprising implications!
There is a thought experiment on Morality and Accountability that I found quite intriguing. Yet, though I'm no cosmologist, I do question the accuracy of some of his ideas about the universe and our physical laws.
Those who do not spend a lot of time thinking outside the proverbial “box” (as I do) may well find some of this material uncomfortable. However, the rigor of most of the thinking is solid.
Overall, Mind Games is an interesting book, providing the opportunity to stretch your thinking in some new directions.

Thought provoking

I purchased this book for my husband who loves brain teasers and and mind games. He reads them before bed, and will usually quiz me as well. This book is not what I expected at all, it was so much more! Reading the title, I figured it would be the standard brain teasers and maybe a few new ones. This book was very different and thought provoking. Some of the topics really stood out to me and made me think. I didn't just think of the presented scenario, but also examined my life. I especially enjoyed the scenario about the island and what the true necessities are in life. This book is well written and it is a perfect length. I would recommend this book to friends, family, or anyone who would like a good read that actually makes you think. I recieved this book at a discounted price for my honest review.
