JEFFREY LEIKEN is the CEO of Evolution Mentoring International and cocreator of HeroPath International. He facilitates effective, real-world training and mentoring for teens and young adults. He has presented to over thirty thousand parents, teens, and youth development professionals; worked with hundreds of North American summer camps; guest lectured at Stanford University; and presented for TED. He has offices in San Francisco, New York, and London. He lives with his wife and daughters in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I had the privilege of reading this book in pre-publication and it's an amazing and valuable book that I think every parent and individual who interacts with adolescents will want to read. The work Jeffrey describes is ground-breaking in it's simplicity and depth. The fundamental concept he presents and then illustrates via his examples is immediately applicable to every adolescent growing up in today's complex and challenging world. While I am both friendly with Jeffrey and familiar with his work, this book is truly a feather in the cap of a masterful mentor who pulls back the curtain and lets you into what happens behind the scenes. Kudos to the author ...

This book is excellent for anyone who interacts with teenagers. The framework that Jeffrey Leiken describes and his approach to working with teenagers are powerful. The stories that he tells make the book a joy to read and reveal incredible insight into the way teenagers work. I am a camp director who has responsibility for a teen leadership program, and as soon as I finished this book I turned to the front page and read it again. I have no doubt that I'll keep this one close at hand. Highly recommended.

Mentoring our Teens

A refreshingly direct, clear, positive, proactive and heartfelt book about the real need fro mentoring and emotionally connected role models outside of the usual family structure for our children as they learn to navigate the always complex waters teenage and young adults years. Written with warmth and compassion and steadfast presence, Mr. Leiken stays clear of the psychological but dives deep into the personal, a skill that comes from years of experience mentoring, looking, listening, hearing and paying close attention to the hopes, desires, fears, longings, values, pressures and ultimately the great capacity our adolescents inherently have for building, fulfilling, engaged and successful lives.
