About the Author
Stephen Kendrick is senior associate pastor of preaching and prayer at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. He is also a screenwriter (Facing the Giants, Fireproof, Courageous) and movie producer and co-wrote the New York Times best seller The Resolution for Men with his brother, Alex. Stephen and his wife, Jill, have six children.
Alex Kendrick is associate pastor of movie outreach for Sherwood Baptist Church. He is also an actor, writer, and director whose film credits include Facing the Giants, Fireproof, and Courageous. He and his wife, Christina, have six children.

A Courageous Resolution for Men

After watching the trailer for Courageous, I knew I had to read The Resolution for Men. And, speaking as an author myself, after reading the first couple of sentences, I was hooked:
* "Weak men will not be able to handle the contents of this book ... You will be challenged to get out of your comfort zone, work through hidden issues from your past, and make strategic sacrifices for the sake of your family and your faith. But those who step up to the challenge will find that living out the resolution will radically impact their priorities and assist them in becoming strong men who are found faithful. It will take courage. But it will be worth it."
My wife and I have been married for three years but we do not have children yet. That said, this book speaks to me. It's not just for big families--but every family of two or more. In fact, I wish I'd read this book as a single man.
Just as Fireproof and The Love Dare hit their mark, I believe Courageous and The Resolution for Men will help change lives in amazing ways.

Rarely am I brought to tears. But the Kendrick brothers have evoked them from me in every one of their works because they hit the heart of the Christian life--even when budgets are sparse. They are a breath of fresh air in an industry that's mostly ruled by garbage.
Along with The Resolution for Men, I highly recommend the Kendricks' earlier works and movies: Fireproof / Facing the Giants / Flywheel (Triple Feature). Though I haven't read it, I'd also check out the Resolution's mate, The Resolution for Women

Change yourself. Change your family. Change your future.

This is a very quick easy read, yet it will impact your life.
We are living very difficult times and this book explains and answers many of those terrible consequences we can't understand today. This book basically will help us understand what God's design for men is and compares with how most of us are under cultural traditions or what the world have taught us, which is far away from our Creator's design.
Imagine this: What happens when you use something out of its design parameters? Something that was not intended or created to be used for? It fails!
A simple example: try to overload an airplane or your truck and see what happens! Try to use your phone to swim? Clearly not what it was intended to be used for! Well, likewise there is a design for men! Divorce, work overload, children with problems, drugs, alcohol, financial crisis, etc... many consequences of men out of its design parameters.
I believe if every men understood God's purpose and design in life we would live in a different world today. Will I recommend this book? Absolutely! Actually I pray and hope every men would read this. I will give away this book to every close friend and family member. Also great if women understood this!

An absolute MUST READ!!!

This is an absolute MUST READ for any Christian father, father-to-be, husband or husband-to-be -- and for every mother, mother-to-be, wife and wife-to-be. Very rarely do I get this excited about a book - and I have many on my bookshelf!
As families continue to crumble and fall and ex-life partners struggle to figure out why, it is imperative that the Church reinforce the roles of husband and wife that are very clearly laid out in the Bible and that husbands and wives take up the challenge of those roles instead of trying to define and live out their own as based on what society deems right and popular.
I would very strongly recommend that both husbands and wives read both the Resolution for Men and the Resolution for Women so that each can hold the other partner accountable for actions, inactions and ways of thinking that are not in keeping with God's ways and teachings.
Our families and children need strong fathers more than ever. Fathers/husbands that know the difference between loving and respecting and cherishing and being dominating and abusive and manipulative. Fathers, contrary to popular opinion, are integral to raising healthy, well-rounded kids, and to keeping a marriage together. When fathers negate their God-ordained role or abuse that role for purposes that God never intended, then families suffer. "A man cannot be passive about what Scripture tells him to do for his family and expect to be found faithful to God in the end." (page 3)
This is a lesson that every man, and every young man who has visions of being a husband and father in his life needs to read.
